Dendritic distribution of mRNA candidates

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to examine the dendritic localization of mRNA candidates, which had been isolated from Staufen-immunoprecipitates.

Materials and Methods : We performed in situ hybridization or fluorescent in situ hybridization assays accompanied with MAP2 immunostaining, probing Agrin, eIF6, Lsm12, Piwi-like1, or Sec14- like3 mRNA, in cultured hippocampal neurons.

Results: All the in situ signals of Agrin, eIF6, Lsm12, Piwi-like1, and Sec14-like3 mRNAs were found in dendrites. The signals of eIF6 and Sec14-like3 were detected with more higher rate than others in dendrites.

Conclusion: These results suggest a possibility that Agrin, eIF6, Lsm12, Piwi-like1, and Sec14- like3 proteins might be regulated by the local protein synthesis.
